Full Exposure's Interview
--------------------------------

What did you first start making beats with?
My first setup was a Yamaha keyboard, my fingers, and my mom’s
camcorder (mic).

What was your first sample?
The first sample I ever worked with was from Castlevania: Symphony of
the Night on Playstation. I would still use that sample, it was real
grimy. Bythe way I had updated to a DJX keyboard by then, which came built in with a
sampler with a whopping six seconds of sampling time.

Where do you get your records?
Thrift stores, my brother-in-law has a pimp ass selection, and he
blessedme with it when I first got my MPC. My first set of records had a lot of
ill shit, and it was an ill experience sampling off of a record for the first time,
I felt likeI had taken a giant leap.

What instruments do you play?
Piano, MPC (it's an instrument when it is mastered by its owner),
my pen.
When did you start playing music and what made you decide that it was what
you wanted to do with your life?
Right after my family won this court case. My mother asked me what it
was that I always wanted that she could never get me, and I told her a
keyboard. I got this keyboard in 97, never got too good at it, then around
99 Istarted messing with it again because I wanted to use the drum sounds to
make a beat. I always used to fuck around, but also seeing my cousin making
beats is what really made me want to get into it. Some family inspiration
basically put. Peace to my cousin Gorge.

Where do you trace your roots?
I come from two immigrant parents, I'm a Mexican and proud. I always
lived in Latino neighborhoods, and have been a peaceful person who is
basically colorblind to all races. Musically, the first songs I would get
down towere Michael Jackson’s shit in the 80s. I then became a big Native Tongue fan
at the age of 10 or 11 thanks to my sister.
As a youth I was strictly hip-hop, I never got into BONE and all that g shit,
and even now I barely like that style of music, except Twista of course.

If you could change one thing about society what would it be?
It seems that everyone has an inferiority complex in this world;
people hateanything that belittles them to another person. I would change this ego-based
society.

What is the most important book you have ever read?
"Always Running" by Luis Rodriguez. This book just made me realize how
important it is for people like me to be role models to the youth of my
community. My eyes are open.

When did you start flowing as well as making beats?
The first time I kicked a rhyme was with my cousin Jorgie when he showed
me some of his beats back in the day. This was the summer of 99, when it all
started. Since then, I have been flowing and producing non-stop, and I write
rhymes whenever I catch inspiration.

What is your main objective in life?
My major objective is to make people forget everything else that they
were thinking about prior to hearing my music. All your problems can fade
away for five minutes, then its back to reality. Music (real music that
requirestalent anyway) is its own dimension, so my objective is to take you there
rather than just fill your head with ideas that it does exist.

Whose got the ill-est flow?
I don't really believe in one person being the best, but the people
who I'mfeeling right now are my crew (can't help it), a lot of chi underground shit,
Aesop, Meta 4.

Who beats inspire you?
Ali Shaheed(even though he doesn't do shit no more), Timbaland,
Blockhead, Overflow (realize), and whoever does twistas shit.

Who would you like to work with?
I would enjoy working with Mass Hysteria, Meta4, Benefit, Aesop, and I'm
gonna work with Robust & Vyle, so I at least got some of the people who I
would want to work with down. As far as mainstream rappers go, I would like
to work with Twista, Method Man, Camp Lo, Heltah Skeltah, Ludacris, and
Pharoah Monch.
